Despite that audio for Trackmania United sounded much nicer and richer with the Virtual Desktop driver than without it and using the Depth3D shader with Reshade I also made the game stereoscopic visually too so it's an overall improvement playing this game in VR with Virtual Desktop. For my PC audio outside of VR I use Sharp HMDI audio since I have my PC hooked up to my Sharp TV and use that as a monitor. You can always just uncheck the Virtual Audio Driver option. What headset are you using? There’s a ton of different audio configurations and it might not work with all of them.
